Over the past few weeks, I have had numerous meetings with representatives from the local Clinical Commissioning Group, to discuss the measures that have been put in place to ensure that local residents continue to have easy access to various health services. However, discussions are still underway to determine the best medium and long-term courses of action.
Whilst this is very much a matter for the NHS, I have been taking a very keen interest in the situation due to the difficulties that many of my constituents have been facing since the fire, especially with regards to access to Walton Community Hospital.
Whilst the fire was a great tragedy, it is an opportunity now not only to re-provide GPs with better facilities, but a chance to corridor other services that can be delivered on this site. That is why I welcome the announcement from North West Surrey CCG that they have no intentions of selling the site of the former Weybridge Community Hospital, and plans are already underway to return the two GP practices to the site in the next three to four months, using temporary accommodation.
I will, of course, continue to liaise with representatives about the progress of returning the GP practices to the Weybridge Hospital site and am ready to assist in any way I can.
